Plant Manager, MI

Summary: The Plant Manager will plan and oversee the daily operations of the manufacturing shop floor to ensure proper objectives are being met. They will ensure policies and procedures are being followed, along with upholding safety, quality, and productivity.

Pay: $110,000 - $140,000

Supervisory Responsibilities:

  • Organizes and oversees the schedules and work of assigned staff.
  • Conducts performance evaluations that are timely and constructive. 

Essential Functions:

  • Directs and coordinates the daily activities of all manufacturing departments: Saw, Weld, Machine, Build, Pipe, Wire, Paint, and Shipping/Receiving.
  • Manage all company projects to budgets per discipline.
  • Manage all disciplines to timelines to ensure customer satisfaction.
  • Assess production capabilities to ensure proper utilization of human capital within time constraints.
  • Minimizing unnecessary costs and maintaining workflow
  • Processes all design releases to determine the make vs buy decisions for manufacturing.
  • Coordinates when hiring and training of necessary personnel are needed; collaborate with HR on any potential HR related matters.
  • Monitor operations and ensure workplace conflict resolution.
  • Develop plant staff by coaching and mentoring on job functions.
  • Addresses employee’s issues or grievances in a timely manner.
  • Monitor equipment and ensure that are up to safety standards; replace or repair if necessary.
  • Monitor and maintain issues with plant quality to include Corrective Action reporting and resolution.
  • Participate in ensuring compliance with quality requirements to prepare for annual ISO9001 audits.
  • Maintain proper (5S) housekeeping throughout the manufacturing facility.
  • Performs other related duties as required.

  • Requires excellent problem-solving skills, with the ability to find ways to work under pressure and still make deadlines without cutting corners or endangering the integrity of the equipment and/or the employer as a whole.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook,etc.) 

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Management, Business Administration, or related field preferred; or equivalent in experience and education combined.
  • Proven experience working within a manufacturing plant required. 

Working Conditions:

  • May be exposed to moving mechanical equipment, airborne particles, and occasionally chemical fumes.
  • The noise level within the manufacturing floor may be faint to moderate, and occasionally loud.
  • Eyewear is mandatory while in the manufacturing area.
  • Safety shoes such as hard soled shoes are to be worn in the manufacturing area.
  • Must be able to work overtime when required as job permits. 

Physical Demands:

  • Must be able to stand for long periods of time if necessary.
  • Typically sits for extended periods of time at a computer.
  • Must be able to bend, and lift objects up to 35 pounds if required.
